About teacher

Nathan Bishop is a teaching artist based in Weehawken, NJ. A recent graduate of Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, where he studied under the genre-hopping violinist Dr. Elena Chernova-Davis and the avant-garde fiddler Cleek Schrey, he can be found performing a variety of styles and traditions across the greater New York region. The founder of the Rutgers University String Ensemble (RUSE) and a past researcher with Dr. Rebecca Cypess‘ Women in Art Music (WAM!) project, he currently spends his time teaching classical violin and Irish fiddle as well as conducting the youth orchestras of Hunterdon Music for Youth's "Saturday Strings" program. He plans to continue exploring the role of music education in our adaptive world, and is currently studying the Suzuki philosophy at the School for Strings in Manhattan.
