About teacher

Caitlin Alicia Marshall is a New York City-based violinist currently in the first year of her Master of Music program at the Manhattan School of Music. Originally from England, she was accepted at age 12 into the prestigious Specialist Music Program at Wells Cathedral School on a full scholarship. During her time at Wells, she studied under Karen Leishman and Simon Smith, gaining extensive experience in solo, orchestral, and chamber music performance. At 17, Caitlin was accepted into all three top conservatories in London and chose to pursue her Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music under Radu Blidar. After two years at RCM, she was awarded one of only two positions in the exchange program at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Nicholas Mann. Following a successful year, she auditioned to transfer and was awarded a scholarship to complete her degree at MSM. She graduated in Spring 2024 after studying under Peter Winograd, acclaimed soloist and first violinist of the American String Quartet, and immediately continued her studies there at the master’s level. An active chamber musician, Caitlin is a member of the Manhattan Quintet, which was recently selected for both the Orchestra of St. Luke’s mentorship program and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) program. She has performed in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Royal Albert Hall, Neidorff-Karpati Hall, Greenfield Hall, Kaufman Music Center, Cedars Hall, and Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. She has also played under esteemed conductors including Leonard Slatkin, Daniel Harding, Jac van Steen, Ben Glasberg, and Charles Hazlewood. Beyond performing, Caitlin is passionate about teaching and maintains a private studio in both London and New York. She looks forward to continuing her career as a performer, collaborator, and educator in New York City.
