About teacher

Wenjing Chen, violist, is an accomplished chamber musician and performer from China. She began her musical journey at the age of 4 as a violinist and transitioned to viola after high school, which became her true passion. In 2013, she won the silver prize at the 2nd International String Competition. Wenjing earned her bachelor’s degree in Viola Performance from the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. She continued her studies in the United States under Michelle LaCourse at Boston University, where she obtained her master’s degree and a performance diploma. Since 2019, she has been pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Missouri Kansas City under the guidance of Scott Lee. As an educator, Wenjing combines the Suzuki method and Alexander Technique into her teaching, catering to students of all ages and fostering both technical proficiency and artistic expression.
