About teacher

Sunny Son holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas, where she also received a master’s degree in Organ Performance. Her previous studies were completed at the University of North Texas (B.Mus) and at the Royal Academy of Music in London (Postgraduate Diploma), where she studied piano, organ, harpsichord, continuo playing, and collaborative piano. Her teachers include Lenora McCroskey, Susan Landale, Lionel Rogg, and James Higdon. A laureate of several competitions, Dr. Son has participated competitions including Paris International Organ Competition, Dublin International Organ Competition, Luxembourg International Organ Competition and André Marchal International Competition, and she was the semi-finalist in the 1st Canadian International Organ Competition in Montréal in 2008. She was featured both in Regional and National Conventions of American Guild of Organists, and has performed throughout Europe, including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and Lapa Cathedral in Porto, Portugal. Dr. Son performs widely both in America and Europe as a soloist and with ensemble. Currently, she is the Director of Music and Organist at the Church of the Epiphany in Cliffside Park, NJ.
