Esther Kim is a distinguished violist with a comprehensive background in performance, education, and mentorship. She holds both a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where she also completed the Pre-College Division. Esther’s orchestral career is extensive, including performances with the New York Classical Music Society (NYCMS) in the United States and Asia. She has appeared with the Juilliard Orchestra at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, as well as with the New World Symphony and the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra. A frequent participant at the Aspen Music Festival, Esther performed in the Festival Orchestra, Chamber Symphony, and the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra over seven consecutive years. As a soloist, Esther has given recitals across the United States, including notable performances at Paul Hall and Morse Hall at The Juilliard School. She made her concerto debut with The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey in 2021. Her chamber music experience includes performances with the NYCMS Asia Chamber Music Program, Juilliard ChamberFest, and the Lincoln Center Young Artists Chamber Music Program. Esther has worked under the guidance of esteemed chamber music coaches, including Darrett Adkins, Nancy Allen, Toby Appel, James Dunham, Sylvia Rosenberg, Carol Wincenc, David Aaron Carpenter, and Samuel Rhodes. As an experienced educator, Esther has taught privately in New York, New Jersey, and South Korea, working with students of all levels. While serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University, she instructed both viola performance majors and non-music majors. She also mentored students at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, where she led string ensemble rehearsals and sectionals for elementary and middle school students. With her exceptional combination of performance, teaching, and leadership experience, Esther continues to inspire audiences and students alike through her dedication to music and education.
